I love old, used-up things. If it isn’t banged up enough, I bang it up some more. In other words, the older and more used-up, the better.
I transform someone’s relic into a on-of-a-kind piece of art. I collaborate with designers and engineers of a different era and write the epilogue to their stories and give these pieces a new life. They come out over-done, with some parts looking like they were made at camp, and completely unique.
In other words, whimsical and imperfect – as are their stories.
I don’t like to make anything I can’t use, even if it’s just a simple table or cabinet – it needs to have a job. I like a surprise in every box.
I really do appreciate when people connect with my work, but I’ll probably keep making it whether they like it or not. It’s a curse and a calling.
Cheers!
